Obituary of Nicole P. Rosenbloom
Nicole Plisson Rosenbloom, well known Albany Restaurateur passed on July 29, 2012 surrounded by loving family after a courageous 10 year battle with cancer. Throughout the fight she maintained her optimistic outlook and ever present smile which served to disguise her grit and determination to soldier on.
Nicole was born in the Loire Valley of Central France which she always referred to as "Sancerre country".
In 1962, she married Michael Kzirian, then an American serviceman doing his military service in France, and they subsequently moved to the United States where they settled in the Capital District. They had 2 children, both of whom survive her, Lydia Deyo residing in Albany, New York and Nadine Bratti in Atlanta, Georgia
From 1985 to 1995, Nicole was the proprietor of L'Auberge, an Albany restaurant which specialized in French cuisine. From 1996 to 2008, she owned and operated Nicole's Bistro which also specialized in French cuisine. Both restaurants were housed in historic Albany buildings, the former being the ticket office of the Albany Day Line and the latter in the Quackenbush House, one of the oldest buildings in the City of Albany.
Both of Nicole's restaurants reflected her passion for fine French food and wine and were patronized by a wide ranging clientele, all whom appreciated the personal authenticity and artistry she brought to her work, as well as her attentiveness to detail. Nicole was often recognized by culinary organizations for her professional achievements.
Nicole and Carl Rosenbloom, an Albany attorney, were married on July 14, 1998 (Bastille Day). In addition to her daughters and her husband Nicole is survived by 7 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild as well as a step daughter Erica Hezi of Cortlandt, NY and a step son, Jay Rosenbloom, of NYC
Funeral services will be held at Congregation Beth Emeth 100 Academy Road Albany, NYon Friday, August 3, 2012 at 1:00pm. Friends may call at the Temple commencing at 12 noon. Interment will follow services in the Beth Emeth Cemetery on Turner Lane in Loudonville, NY
Those wishing to remember Nicole may do so by making contributions in her name to the American Cancer Society or Congregation Beth Emeth.
The family wishes to express special thanks and gratitude to the Drs and staff at New York Oncology Hospital, 400 Patroon Blvd, Albany, for their patience, caring and consideration during Nicole's journey. They provided her with the treatment, motivation and ability that enabled her to enjoy her life even in the darkest of days. Extra special thanks are expressed to Dr. John Caracundas who was adored by Nicole. His understanding of her and their repartee were unique and always a comfort to her and her family.
