Mimi and I were saddened to hear, down here in Florida, of Bob's passing. Bob and Doris were among our first friends after moving to Niskayuna, and were always so warm and gracious and helpful to us. Bob was a doctor's doctor, a trusted and valued colleague, and so important to our medical community and to our community at large. We extend to Doris and Mike and the entire family our deepest sympathy and most heartfelt condolences.

We arrived home recently after a trip and learned of the death of Dr. Robert Pletman. We had seen him in the past six months and per usual he had his ready ear, a smile and good conversation. The written obituary was indeed a wonderful tribute to an equally wonderful man. We had both worked with him for many years at the Ellis hospital. We shall treasure in our memories his sincere concern when problems arose, his over all friendliness, and on the lighter side, his jaunty walk which made him recognizable from afar. Blessings. Wow...What a remarkable life. As Doris's first cousin, I never knew what a busy and philinthropic person Bob was. I knew he quietly went about his life with medical deeds but I never knew of his love for dogs or his interest in sports. I am sure he will be missed by the Schenectady community.

Dr. Pletman successfully removed my father’s kidney when he had kidney cancer in the early 1970s. His skill saved my family from a devastating loss when I was just a young boy. He has my everlasting admiration and respect.

What a wonderful person who made a big difference with his life. I didn’t get to meet Bob and Doris until their later years when I was fortunate to drive them and Milky back and forth to their winter home in Florida for several years. We had wonderful talks in the car and when their sons called with the speaker on, I felt that I got to know the boys pretty well and noted how they loved their parents. The sons would call many times during the day and report on all their activities and what the dogs were doing, too. My condolences to the family at this sad time.
