Obituary of Shirley Levine

Albany- Shirley Levine, age 95, passed away peacefully at the Daughters of Sarah Nursing Center on Friday, November 24, 2017. She was born to her parents Louis and Bessie Goldenberg on April 6, 2017 and lived in Brooklyn for most of her life, moving to Albany twelve years ago to be near her daughter Shari Piper and her much-loved son-in-law Neil Piper. She was predeceased by her husband George and son Edward and is survived by Shari, Neil, her cherished grandchildren David Piper, and Kim and Greg Werker and by her extra-special great grandson Owen. She valued family above everything and lived a full long life. She was quite a character - a straight talker who never lost the ability to laugh at herself. We will miss her but will cherish many memories. The family thanks the staff at the Massry and at the Daughers of Sarah Nursing Center for treating our mother and all of us with kindness and compassion

. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, November 26 at Parkside Memorial Chapel in Brooklyn. Shiva will commence on Monday at the Piper home. The family asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Daughters of Sarah Jewish Foundation, 180 Washington Avenue Ext, Albany, NY 12203
