I met Sherry because she was an editor on our college newspaper. I was a punk writer who thought I was destined for a Pulitzer and she was older and much wiser and didn't take any crap from punks. It didn't take very long until I was on the receiving end of one of her famously inappropriate and sarcastic observations. I don't even remember what it was because it would certainly not be the last, but I do remember I fell in love with her on the spot. My nickname for her after that was Queen of Caustasia. She loved it when I called her that. She was unreservedly embracing as a friend but she also welcomed me into her family. Corey was knee-high to a grasshopper when I came to their house for dinner the first time. I was 6 feet 3 inches tall and couldn't have gotten any skinnier and Corey named me Tree. I loved it when he called me that. The Queen of Caustasia and Tree. Let's just say that together we were cause for concern and leave it at that. Corey and Kerrianne and Lakota, Skye and Rayne, I will miss but cherish the memory of your mother and grandmother the rest of my life.
