Obituary of Edward R. Sachs
Edward Sachs of Albany, died on Friday, October 21, 2011 at his residence in Deerfield Beach, Florida. Edward was born and raised in Boston, MA. He was the youngest and last survivor of eight children of the late Louis and Rachael Sacks.
He graduated from Suffolk University Law School, and was admitted to the MA and NY Bars. During WWII he enlisted and served as a Captain in the Army, stationed in the South Pacific. After the war he settled in Albany, NY and established his own optical business. He was a NYS licensed optician and worked in the business until his retirement in 1985.
He married Delores Gangberg and remained married for 47 years, until her passing in 1997. He is survived by his four children; Dr. Barton (Patti) Sachs of Charleston, SC, Diedre (Ken) Wolberg of Albany, NY, Robin Sachs (Raymond Puffer) of Albany, NY, and Dr. Jody Sachs (Thomas Gross) of Derwood, MD, and seven grandchildren.
He was a longtime member of Congregation Beth Emeth, the Jewish Community Center, Colonie Country Club, and the B'nai B'rith Gideon Lodge. He enjoyed dancing, fine dining and cruises.
Private services will be at Beth Emeth Cemetery, Turner Lane, Loudonville, NY. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.
