Obituary of Sylvia Zuravin

Sylvia Zuravin, age 82, of Niskayuna, died on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at Ellis Hospital following a prolonged illness. Born in Brooklyn, NY, Sylvia was a keypunch operator for the IBM Company before marrying the love of her life, Paul Zuravin (pre deceased), becoming a homemaker, childcare provider and surrogate mother to many youngsters throughout her live. Active in its Sisterhood, she was a member of Congregation Beth Israel in Schenectady for 59 years. Sylvia loved knitting, poetry, Broadway Musicals and was a member of the Woman’s Choir. She loved going on outings and was particularly fond of family get-togethers. She will be long remembered by her family as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Sylvia is survived by her (4) children, Debra (Donald) Casey of Schenectady, Lawrence (Carol) Zuravin of Clifton Park, Judith (Michael) Bickford of Baltimore, and Sheryl Zuravin (Edward Nowiak) of Wisconsin. She also leaves behind her (11) cherished grandchildren and (4) great-grandchildren. Services at Congregation Beth Israel, 2195 Eastern Pkwy., Schenectady on Thursday, January 5th, 2017 at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in the Beth Israel Cemetery on Schermerhorn Street in Rotterdam.
