Obituary of Shirley A. Newman

NEWMAN Shirley A. Newman of Niskayuna, New York died on Thursday, December 8, 2016 at her residence. Born in Glens Falls, NY, on November 14, 1923 where she spent her formative years. She attended Glens Falls High School and later Beaver College in Jenkinstown, Pennsylvania. She had been a resident of Niskayuna since 1960. She is survived by her husband of 44 years. Lawrence A. Newman . She had been a free lance office worker for many years and was an administrative assistant with the New York State Division for Youth . Shirley was active in various charitable activities during her earlier years. She is predeceased by her son, Joel Lindy. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter , Judith ( Dr.Alvin) Ruthenberg , her daughter in law, Mrs. Marilyn Lindy and partner, Dan DeMicco, grandchildren, Joshua ( Nicole) Lindy and Jeffrey ( Gwen) Lindy, Kate ( Frederick) Hartman, Michael ( Dr. Tierney) Trossman and five great grandchildren, niece Deborah ( Dr. Alan) Kraut and grand niece Dr.Julia Kraut Services at Congregation Agudat Achim, 2117 Union Street Schenectady on Sunday, December 11, 2016 at 1:30pm. Interment will follow in the Agudat Achim Cemetery in Rotterdam, NY. Memorial contributions may be made to Congregation Agudat Achim or to the Parkinsons Research Fund of the Albany Medical Center. The family expresses their appreciation to Dr. Eric Molho , the staff of Visiting Nurse Service and the Kingsway Home Care agency for their dedicated care for Mrs. Newman.
