Obituary of Rosalyn Fribush Vener

Rosalyn Fribush Vener age 91 passed away on Saturday November 19, 2016 at her home in Hamden, Connecticut. She is survived by her three children daughter Patricia C. Vener-Saavedra of Hamden, son Avram Rudy Vener and daughter in law Gina Vener of North Haven and daughter Miriam Vener Giskin and son in law Steve Giskin of North Haven, as well as four grandchildren, Emily, Sarah and Daniel Giskin and Ari Vener. Rosalyn was born in Albany, New York on June 17, 1925. She married Herman Vener on August 6, 1950 and their loving marriage flourished for 51 years. They moved to Weston, Connecticut in 1970 and were very active members of Temple Israel in Westport where they sang in the choir and served on the ritual committee. Together they were involved in the Stamford Mineralogical Society and the Westport Astronomical Society. Rosalyn also loved gardening and keeping tropical fish. She worked as a circulation manager for the Westport News and later for the Acorn Press in Ridgefield, CT. Rosalyn was known for her loving kindness. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother who cared for her aging father and in laws. She opened her home to strangers who were in need and prepared elaborate holiday meals for her family and extended family. Her blintzes, goulash, cabbage soup and grivnas are legendary. A funeral service will take place on Tuesday, November 22 at 11:00 at the Abraham L. Green Funeral home at 88 Beach Road in Fairfield, CT with interment following at the Temple Israel cemetery at 225 Richards Avenue, Norwalk.
