Obituary of Joseph M. Freedman
Joseph M. Freedman, age 92 of Albany, NY died on Tuesday November 1, 2016 at the Daughters of Sarah Nursing Center in Albany. Mr. Freedman was a lifelong Albany resident. He was a graduate of Albany High School and served in the United States Army during World War II. Joseph and his late wife Frances owned and operated Babyland from 1972 until his retirement in 2007. He was a member of Congregation Beth Emeth in Albany and was a mason and a member of the former Washington Lodge # 85 F& AM in Albany. Joseph was an avid golfer. He will be remembered as a gentleman and a devoted and loving grandfather.
Joseph was predeceased by his wife Frances in 1990. He is survived by his loving children, Mark (Jean) Freedman of Colonie and Jodie Freedman of Clifton Park, NY. Brother of Marilyn Frisch of Albany. Cherished grandfather of Sarah and Rachel Freedman. In addition to his wife Joseph was predeceased by a brother, William Freedman.
Services will be held in the Mendleson Chapel on the grounds of the Beth Emeth Cemetery on Turner Lane in Loudonville, NY on Thursday, November 3, 2016 at 1:00pm. The period of mourning will be observed at the Freedman residence, 27 Hearthstone Drive in Colonie on Thursday following the service of interment and throughout the day on Friday. Those wishing to remember Joseph in a special way may make a memorial contribution to a charity of your choice.
