Obituary of Carolyn Peretz
Carolyn (Brown) Peretz, Loudonville, age 74 passed away at her home on Thursday, October 27th, surrounded by her family and friends, after a battle with cancer. Carol was a beloved reading teacher in the Albany public schools for 31 years. Born in Albany in 1942 to Louis and Miriam Kaplan Brown, Carol graduated with her Master’s in teaching from Russle Sage College. After retiring in 2004, Carol volunteered with the Capital Region Jewish Coalition for Literacy. Carol’s love of children and reading led her to establish the first children’s library in the Women’s Shelter on Clinton Avenue. She also was a lifelong member of Hadassah and co-President of her local chapter for two years. Carol is survived by her loving husband of 36 years, Ephraim Peretz, and her children Deborah, Michael (Dana) and Robert (Jackie) Stone, her three cherished grandsons Jeremy, Owen, and Dylan Stone, her brother Alvin (Harriet) Brown, and her sister, Ruth Brown Schulman.
Services at the Levine Memorial Chapel, 649 Washington Avenue in Albany on Friday October 28, 2016 at 3pm. Interment will follow in the Temple Israel Cemetery in Guilderland, New York
The family will receive visitors at the Peretz home at 3 Carlton Terrace from 12-4 pm on October 29-30. Donations can be made to the
