Obituary of Ida Pollack
Ida Pollack, 94, of Bellerose, NY, passed away on Monday, October 17, 2016.
She was born January 22, 1922 in the Bronx, NY to Morris and Jenny Goldwasser.
She received her B.S.N. from Queens College of C.U.N.Y. and worked as a laboratory technician at Queens Hospital Center, Jamaica, NY and North Shore Hospital, Manhasset, NY. She also worked as a welder in the Brooklyn Navy Yard during the Second World War. She devoted her life to her family and to the pursuit of social and political justice and will be missed by all who knew her.
She was predeceased by her husband Marvin Pollack in 1994, and by her brother Hyman Goldwasser and her two sisters Ethel Schwartz and Mary Hodes. She is survived by her children Rima (Eric) Wexler, Penny Laforest, Barry (Julie) Pollack, her six grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
Shiva will begin at 7 PM Tuesday, October 25 at the home of Barry and Julie Pollack, 170 Davis Avenue, Albany, with visiting hours on Tuesday (7-9PM), Wednesday and Thursday (2-5 and 7-9 PM), Friday (12-4 PM), Saturday (7-9 PM), and Sunday (11 AM-5 PM and 7-9 PM).
Shiva Minyanim will be at 7:30 PM Tuesday, Wednesday, and Sunday, and 8:00 PM Thursday.
A private family celebration of her life will be held at a future date.
