Obituary of Lester M. Golderman
Lester M. Golderman, 82, of Arthur Drive, Albany, died on Monday morning, August 29, 2016. Born in Albany on February 4, 1934 to Anna and Philip Golderman, Lester married his beloved Eunice Simmons in 1960. A graduate of Philip Schuyler High School, he attended Russell Sage College and served in the Army from 1957 to 1959. He proudly worked in insurance sales, beginning with a 35-year career with John Hancock, where he earned recognition as a member of the Regional Honor Club for 19 years, and later with Schuylerville Insurance. He enjoyed helping others when they most needed help.
Lester’s life centered around his family, as a devoted son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle and great-uncle. He lit up a room with his smile, storytelling, singing and enthusiasm for life. He was his family’s greatest cheerleader, being present at everything important to them, and taught them what was most important by his example. He will always be remembered for his sense of humor, love of sports, jovial and teasing nature, and generosity.
His life was rich and fulfilling, and Lester loved his home, food and laughter. He enriched the lives of everyone who knew him. He will be missed.
He adored his wife of 56 and one-half years, Eunice Golderman, and his devoted children, Billy and Kathy Golderman and Phil and Renée Golderman. He cherished his grandchildren, Alyssa, Danny and Haley, and Eric, Rebecca and Jamie Golderman. Lester loved babysitting his grand dogs, TeeSea and Rocky.
He was the baby brother to Lillian Siegel, who survives him, and was predeceased by Benjamin Golderman, Elsie (Samuel) Shapiro, Shirley (Sheldon) Basch, and brother-in-law, Rueben Siegel. Lester is also survived by sisters-in-law, Bernice Burrick and Harriet Weisberg Brown.
