Obituary of Anita Greenberg

ANITA JOY GREENBERG Anita Joy Greenberg, beloved wife of David S. Greenberg, passed away on June 6, 2012 from cancer. A native of Syracuse, New York, Anita was born on July 7, 1943. She graduated Nottingham High School, Syracuse, NY and attended Cazenovia College, Cazenovia, NY and State University of New York at Geneseo. In Syracuse she was a member of Congregation Adath Yeshurun, a conservative temple there. She married David S. Greenberg of Schenectady, NY on April 11, 1965, and they were married for over 47 years. They lived in Schenectady from 1965 to 1992 when they moved to Tallahassee where David earned a PhD in French after retiring form teaching French at Shenendehowa High School, Clifton Park, NY.. They are members of Congregation Agudat Achim, a conservative synagogue in Schenectady, and upon moving to Tallahassee joined Temple Israel, a reform temple in Tallahassee. Anita is survived by her husband, David, and is predeceased by David and Anita's only child, Rochelle Joyce, who died at age 12 in 1978 due to primary pulmonary hypertension, a rare heart-lung condition. People knew Anita as a cheerful and friendly person who attended synagogue regularly and as an excellent homemaker. Anita will be buried at the Congregation Agudat Achim Cemetery next to her daughter Rochelle. The funeral will take place at Congregation Agudat Achim, 2117 Union Street, Schenectady, on Tuesday, June 19th at 11 am. Later a memorial service will take place at Temple Israel, Tallahassee, on Sunday, July 15th at 2 pm.
