Obituary of Jonah Herbert Katz

Jonah Katz passed away unexpectedly, on July 19, 2016 at Albany Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family. Jonah was born on October 24, 1955 in Brooklyn, NY to the late David and Blossom (Bouch) Katz. Jonah was best known for his caring nature and helping others. He loved to travel and especially enjoyed his trips to New York City, Florida, California and Las Vegas. He loved going to music concerts especially the Grateful Dead, with his good friend Jackie Widay. Jonah will be deeply missed by his loving family and friends. He is survived by his sister, Ellen L. Malkis (Farrell) and his nieces and nephew Shana, Jillian, Deena Malkis and Samara (Steven Sims) He treasured the friendship and support of his good friends and family, Robert Guss, Leslie Kellner, Jeffrey Zauderer and Glenn and Ricky Guior. He is also survived by his “sister” Laurie (David Knafo) and his “nephews” Aaron and Scott Knafo. The family would like to extend their deep appreciation to the staff of Wildwood Family Services, for the assistance, support services and care they gave to Jonah over the last 15 years. Donations in Jonah’s name may be made to the: Wildwood Foundation, 2995 Curry Road Extension, Schenectady, NY 12303. Graveside services will be held at the Beth Israel Cemetery, Woodbridge, New Jersey on Friday, July 22nd at 1:15pm The period of mourning will be observed at the home of Ellen and Farrell Malkis on Saturday evening 7:30 pm and Sunday from Noon to 9:00 pm.
