Obituary of Amy Ruth Levie
Amy Ruth Levie, age 87 of Saratoga Springs, NY died on Monday evening, June 4, 2012 at the Saratoga Hospital. Born in Cleveland, Ohio she was the daughter of the late Lee and Minna Gerwin. Amy was raised in Newark, NJ and attended NYU. Following her education, she married Lawrence A. Levie who predeceased her in 1995. They resided in Roselle Park, NJ, later moving to West Orange. Mrs. Levie taught nursery school at Fuld Neighborhood House, and had later been employed as a substitute teacher throughout the Oranges. In the early 1990's Amy moved to the Capital District where she volunteered for literacy, the Albany Jewish Community Center and tutored at Okte and Chango Elementary Schools in Clifton Park. She was a member of ORT in her earlier years. Amy had a talent for drama and music and participated in many productions and had a beautiful singing voice. She will be remembered as a wonderful baker and for hosting the best birthday parties around. Amy was a loving and active grandmother and Mother and will be missed dearly by her family.
Amy is survived by 2 daughters, Judith (Joe) Cuccolo of Clifton Park, NY and Jaclyn Levie of Schenectady, NY. She is also survived by her twin sister, Alice Feder (Seymour) of New Jersey. Loving grandmother of Brian (Jill) Cuccolo, Daina (Cory) Metler, and Lauren (Brian) Beane. Cherished great grandmother of Makenna, Reid, Rachel, Jordyn, Ali, Peyton, Colin and Lindsey.She also leaves 2 nephews as well as her beloved pet, Molly.
A memorial service will be held at the Levine Memorial Chapel, 649 Washington Avenue Albany on Thursday, June 7, 2012 at 11:00am. Those wishing to remember Amy in a special way may make a memorial contribution to Center for Disability c/o 1174 McClellan Street, Schenectady, NY 12309 or Care Links, 6 Clifton Common Court # 1 Clifton Park, NY 12065. Friends and relatives are respectfully invited to call at the Cuccolo residence, on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings from 7-9pm.
