Obituary of Marion M. Odorisio

Marion M. (Mernie) Odorisio, age 86 died peacefully, Friday, April 29, 2016 at Albany Medical Center Hospital. Mernie was born in Wisconsin but grew up in Newark, NJ, the daughter of Louis and Anna Sudler. She was a graduate of Weekwake High School, class of 1948. Mernie married the love of her life, Ralph at age 18. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and aunt who loved spending time with her family. Her thanksgiving feasts were always unforgettable as were her holiday cookies. Mernie was a homemaker until 1980 at which time she went to work full time until 1996. She lived an active life beside her husband Ralph, always bowling and playing golf. They spent many wonderful summers at Lake Luzerne and Sacandaga Lake with their family and friends. Mernie always enjoyed exercise and in her later years stayed active by participating in water aerobics at the Jewish Community Center in Albany, NY three times a week right up until one week before her passing. Mernie touched the lives of everyone who knew her and we will all miss her greatly. Mernie is survived by her children, Frederick Odorisio and Sheri ( Anthony) Gaspary , grandchildren John ( Erin) Odorisio , Jaimee ( Dylan) Ascolese, Gina and Toni Gaspary , her three great grandchildren, and beloved niece Sandra ( Donald) Leslie . She was predeceased by her sister Esther Eckstein and brother Irving Sudler. Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to remember Mernie in a special way may make a memorial contribution to the Albany Public Library, 161 Washington Avenue Albany, NY 12210 or the Sidney Albert Albany Jewish Community Center, 340 Whitehall Road, Albany, NY 12208.
