Obituary of Melvin B. Levin
Melvin B. Levin, age 76, passed away on April 15, 2016 at St.Peter's Hospice. Born in Albany, NY, Melvin was a lifelong Capital District resident. He had been employed by the NYS Department of Criminal Justice as a Latent Print Supervisor and was retired. He was a veteran of the US Army and was stationed for a time in Fort Sill, Oklahoma. Besides his first love which was spending time with family and friends, he was an avid Syracuse fan and enjoyed both attending and discussing their games. He also enjoyed traveling via Amtrak to Florida so he could visit his family and much loved grandchildren there. Last year, he was able to experience rail up close from the locomotive controls as a participant on the Guest Engineer program in Milford, NY. He genuinely liked people and wherever he went, Melvin would always find a group of good friends with whom to share a cup of coffee and some conversation.
Melvin was the son of the late Samuel and Sarah Noone Levin. Melvin is survived by his daughter Terri (Bob Privler) Levin, his son Ron (Rebecca) Levin of Jacksonville, Florida and his brother Harvey H. (Diane) Levin of Albany, NY, and grandchildren Adam (Michie) Saint and Jeffrey (April) Saint, Libby, Sarah Kate and Sam Levin and one great-grandson, Lucas Saint. He is also survived by his nephews, Paul (Heidi) Levin of Schuylerville, NY David Levin of FL; Gary Levin of AR; Matthew (Kim) Tenney of New Kent, VA; nieces Jennifer (Tim) Levin-Gerber of Saratoga Springs, NY; Sandra Tenney of Naples, FL and Laura (Mark) Rukowski of Perkasie, PA. Melvin was predeceased by his wife Suzanne Foster Levin, his brother Arthur A. Levin, his brother Edwin Levin, his sister Annette (Sidney) Tenney and a niece Caren Briscuso.
He is also survived by his dear lifelong friend, Ginny Sliter and many other friends.
A service will be held at Lakeview Cemetery on U.S. Rte 20 in Skaneateles, NY on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at noon.
