Obituary of Hyman Plesser

Hyman Plesser age 92 of Albany, NY died on Monday, March 21, 2016 at his residence. Born in Albany, Hyman was a lifelong resident. He was an Army Veteran proudly serving in World War II. Mr. Plesser was associated for more than 50 years with his family business, Plesser Brothers Waste Paper and Scrap Metal. He was a member of the Independent Benevolent Society in Albany. Hymie was a lover and well versed about Old Albany History and was the former owner of the historical “ Castle” in Washington Park and the old shirt factory in the south end of Albany . Both have been written up in Old Albany History books. Hyman is survived by 2 daughters, Kate Valentine and Sarah Levi ( Amir) of Israel, a brother Samuel Plesser of Hollywood, Florida and a sister, Reva Tavelman( late William) of Los Angeles, California. He also leaves 5 grandchildren and his lifelong friend and partner Lorraine Hoose as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Danny Plesser (Barbara) and Louis Plesser ( Marilyn) Services at the Levine Memorial Chapel, 649 Washington Avenue Albany on Friday, March 25, 2016 at 10:00am. Interment will follow in the Independent Benevolent Cemetery in Albany.
