Very sorry to find out so much later about my work friend and supporter's passing. We had not been in touch for the last couple of years. I am so glad I got to meet him and work with him via MCM Environmental Technolgies. My deepest sympathy to the family.

Ira was at all times a challenger and helper, as one who has been on the receiving end of his banter and barbs I always looked forward to those meetings. He made my work hard and easy, but you always knew exactly where you stood.
It was my pleasure to have known him as a reviewer of technologies and a friend when needed.
My wish for the family is that the pain passes with soft edges.

Amalendu Bagchi (retired from Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources) and I (still at DNR) express our condolences to Ira's family and friends. We knew Ira from our work with medical waste. He was a solid scientist and a good man.

I was saddened by the news of Ira's passing and send my deepest sympathies to Kay and her family. Ira was not only my mentor but a trusted colleague and friend. He and I shared numerous discussions on medical waste and life over lunch, always comprised of bagels and soup. He will be missed by all. My deepest sympathies go out to his family.

Never forgotten my friend. Shall never forget Porec 2003 when I caught you snoozing off during a talk and took that photo of you. We joked, we laughed and kept always asking about you from time to time via our common friend.
May you rest in peace, this time, will not be able to take photos of you snoozing off but you can keep an eye on me.

I had the privilege of knowing Ira back in the late 1980's as a regulator, in the 90's as a colleague on UL technical committees and joint projects together, and as a friend. I had been on the receiving end of many an evening discussion laughing long into the night. He was a rare individual, brilliant in both intellect and wit, and I will miss him.
To his family I can only say thank you for sharing such a wonderful bright light in a world where sadly too few people know the meaning of intellectual honesty, integrity, and downright fun.
May God comfort you in your loss, and may He welcome Ira with open arms and some good natured banter.

Ira welcomed me into the field of alternative medical waste treatment validation - he was an expert and I was a neophyte - with warmth and grace, and we worked together on a number of projects. I will always remember his seriousness of purpose and thorough approach to work, along with his sense of humor - and his exasperation at those who wanted to take short cuts. I had no idea Ira had passed away until just moments ago, and am greatly saddened by the thought. My deepest condolences to his family and loved ones. Ira set the standard and he will truly be missed.
