Obituary of Arthur S. Gold
Arthur S. Gold, 85, of Delmar NY, beloved companion of Gytelle Bloom, died peacefully on Sunday December 27, 2015.
The son of Philip and Sadie Gold, and a native of Schenectady, Arthur was a graduate of Union College and Cornell University. He went into business with his father, and eventually became owner and president of the widely respected electrical contracting firm M. Gold & Son, which he ran until he retired. Arthur loved Saratoga where he was a regular both at the performing arts center and at the track. He was a fitness enthusiast long before it became fashionable, but he also had a passion for fine food and a remarkable ability to enjoy a good meal. Arthur’s generosity extended to everyone he knew. He will be widely remembered as a man who would quite literally give you the shirt off his back…but perhaps not the pie off his plate. In addition to his beloved Gytelle, he is survived by generations of cousins.
A memorial service in celebration of Arthur’s life will be held at 12 noon on February 7, 2016 (his birthday) at Levine Memorial Chapel 649, Washington Avenue, Albany. In keeping with Arthur’s concern for the well-being of others, memorial donations can be made to Food Pantries for the Capital District, 32 Essex St; Albany, NY 12206.
