Obituary of Ronald S. Bratspis

Ronald S Bratspis, age 77 of the Atria Crossgates Assisted Living on Washington Avenue Extension in Albany died on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany. He was a graduate of Temple University in Philadelphia where he was editor of the daily student newspaper for his last two years and spotter for the varsity football and basketball teams well into the years after his graduation, traveling from Albany to Philly regularly for the home games of each team, each season. He received his Masters Degree in Management with a concentration in Public Administration from Russell Sage College. Ronald was administrator in multiple positions in NYS Government- Law Department, Health Department, Division of the Budget, and the Division for Youth. Upon retirement from NYS, he served as an administrator for several years for the Retired Public Employees Association. He was a longtime active board member and officer of Kenwood Child Development Center. In retirement, Ronald was a very active driver for PROJECT 5, a coordinated volunteer transportation program serving Jewish elders in Albany, Schenectady, and Renssealer Counties administered by Jewish Family Services of NENY and funded by the United Jewish Federation of NENY. He is survived by his ex-wife and good friend, Sally Bratspis and their three sons, Stephen and Margaret Bratspis and children, Benjamin and Lillian; Jeffrey and Renee Greenberg Bratspis and son, Gil ;David Bratspis and Bat – Chen Schlesinger and Halleli and Tuvya. Brother of Joseph Bratspis and wife Linda and nephew David and wife Susan and children Katharine and Nicholas. A memorial service will be held at Congregation Beth Emeth , 100 Academy Road in Albany on Monday, December 21, 2015 at 1:00pm. The traditional period of mourning will be observed at 186 South Main Avenue in Albany on Monday from 7-9pm , on Tuesday from 3-5 pm and 7-9pm and on Wednesday from 3-5 and 7-9pm. In lieu of flowers those who wish may send contributions to PROJECT 5, 877 Madison Avenue, Albany, NY 12208 or the Office of the Student Newspaper, Temple University. Philly Pa.
