Obituary of Joseph Shapiro
Joseph I. Shapiro, age 41 known to his many friends as “Poker Joe” and “Uncle Joe” of Woodlake Road in Guilderland, died suddenly at St. Peter’s Hospital on Sunday December 13, 2015. At the time of his passing Joseph was employed as a financial planner for Nationwide Insurance in Troy. He was a World War 2 history buff as well as an avid golfer and sports fan. He loved the Orioles and the Pittsburgh Penguins as well as major boxing events. He was proud of his Jewish heritage and abided by Jewish tradition. Joseph loved playing poker, drinking his tequila and eating his favorite cheesecake and sushi. He will be remembered most by his friends for his loyalty, sense of humor , and his love for life in general and major celebrations.
Joseph is survived by his uncle, Norman Cheramoff of California and his enormous circle of friends he considered his family.
Services at the Levine Memorial Chapel, 649 Washington Avenue Albany on Wednesday December 16, 2015 at 12 noon. Friends are invited to attend. Interment will follow in the Independent Benevolent Cemetery on Fuller Road in Albany.
