FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. William B. Freedman, 90, formerly of Albany passed away on Thursday , May 24, 2012 surrounded by his loving family. Bill is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Sue ( nee Laven) and three daughters: Barbara Freedman, Lynda Freedman ( Kazimierz Deminski), and Lisa Supovitz ( Bruce) . Bill is also survived by his grandchildren, Sara and Ross Supovitz, his sister Estelle Freedman, and nephews Mark and Bob Laven. Bill was the son of the late Minnie and Meyer Freedman, and sister Renee Raden. Bill graduated from George Washington High School in NYC and The Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. He owned Reeds Clothing in downtown Albany and then joined Pacific Pools in Latham which was founded by his father-in-law, Alfred Laven and brother-in-law, Merrill Laven. Bill became the owner of Pacific Pools of Albany for several years and founded Aqua Clear Chemicals. More than anything, Bill loved relaxing with his family whom he adored. His family and friends will miss his kind and gentle spirit, and generous soul. He had a passion for classical music, reading, fishing, golf and nature. Sue and Bill worked together in their family business before retiring to Palm Desert, California and in recent years moved to NC to be closer to family ( 138 PennMark Place, Fayetteville, NC 28310).Memorial contributions may be made to Congregation Beth Emeth, 100 Academy Road, Albany, NY 12208 or WCPE, Box 897, Wake Forest, NC 27588.
