Obituary of Marvin E. Patack

Marvin E. Patack, 81, of Albany, died peacefully on Monday, December 7, 2015, in Los Angeles. Marvin was born in Albany to the late Ida and Aaron Patack. He was a longtime congregant of Temple Israel in Albany, and a past president of the Sidney Albert Albany Jewish Community Center. Over 60 years ago, with his father, Marvin founded Broadway Pawnbrokers which later became Broadway Sporting Goods Co., Inc. He spent his retirement years in Scottsdale, Ariz., and Los Angeles. He enjoyed golf, travel and his family. Marvin is survived by his children, Melissa (Michael) Berenbaum, Geoffrey (Leslie) Patack, and Cheryl Patack. He will be forever remembered by his grandchildren, Arielle and Zoey Patack, Josh and Mira Berenbaum. He also leaves his sister, Barbara (Phil) Disman. The funeral will be at Levine Memorial Chapel on Thursday, December 10, at 12 p.m. Following interment at the Temple Israel Cemetery, the family will receive visitors at the home of Geoffrey and Leslie Patack, 24 Marion Avenue, Albany from 2 - 4 p.m. The family will be attending minyan services where they will be reciting Kaddish at Temple Israel in Albany at their 4:45 p.m. evening services as well as on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sidney Albert JCC, 340 Whitehall Road, Albany NY 12208 or to a charity of your choice. .
