Obituary of Deena C. Frankel

Deena C. Frankel, 85, passed away peacefully on November 3, 2015, at Kingsway Nursing Arms Center in Schenectady, New York. Mrs. Frankel, the daughter of Abraham Cohen and Ethel Cohen, was born in Schenectady, and was a lifetime resident of Schenectady County and the Town of Niskayuna. A graduate of Russell Sage College in Troy, New York, Deena devoted the better part of her life to raising a family and taking care of her parents. She was extremely dedicated to and devoted to her husband, Donald Frankel. Don and Deena met as children, dated in their teens and were married in their early 20’s. They were never apart, raised three children and enjoyed their grandchildren. Deena was an avid reader and hundreds of books could be found in her home having been collected over the years. Deena is survived by her two daughters, Susan Frankel and Jill Pollack (Brian), her son Richard Frankel (Kathleen), a brother Norman Cohen (Francoise), a sister Natalie Curach, her grandchildren Rachel Marshall (Justin), Jack Prior (Jenny), Dan and Jason, and her nieces, Cathy, Lori, Jamie, Celine and Stephanie. There will be a private graveside funeral on Friday, November 6, 2015. In lieu of flowers, anyone wishing to is invited to send a donation to either the American Diabetes Association or the Alzheimer Association. The family would also like to thank the staff at Kingsway Nursing Arms Center for the care and comfort they provided to Deena.
