Obituary of Sherwood Hamil
Sherwood Jack Hamil, of Pattersonville, NY, passed away on October 4th 2015 (his 73rd birthday), after a long illness. He was born in Schenectady, NY, grew up in Rexford, NY. Most recently he resided in Pattersonville, NY and at his one-of-a kind camp on the Sacandaga River in Wells, New York. He was predeceased by his wife, Yvonne Ovakim Hamil, in 2002; and his father, K. Sherwood Hamil, in 2002. He is survived by his son, David Hamil (Sandy); his daughters, Patricia (Dale) and Sarah (Jesse); his 100 year old mother, Gertrude Hamil; his sister, Arden Hamil Lawand (Tom); six grandchildren; and one brand new great-granddaughter. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. Sherwood graduated from Niskayuna HS, was a USAF veteran and worked for several companies nationally and locally in the field of mechanical technology and electronics. Since retiring, he traveled widely and made the most of every trout stream.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, October 7 at 2 p.m. at the Agudat Achim Cemetery, Schermerhorn Street, Rotterdam, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wounded Warriors Fund.
