Obituary of Leon Berlinsky

Leon (“Leo”) Berlinsky , 93 died on Thursday, October 1, 2015 at the Daughters of Sarah Senior Community in Albany following a brief illness. He was predeceased by his wife, Bess Berlinsky , brothers Bernard and Joseph Berlinsky. He is survived by his son, Marc ( Leslie) Berlinsky and his daughter, Sheryl Berlinsky, and his brothers, Dave ( Sophie) Berlin and Irving Berlinsky. Leo served his natioin in the U.S. Navy during WW2. He participated in numerous invasions from North Africa to Japan while serving as a gunners mate 2nd class aboard and LST troop carrier. Leo lived in the Ohav Shalom Senior Apartments for many years. He enjoyed singing in the senior chorus of the Albany Jewish Community Center, discussing politics, watching football and the occasional visit to Turning Stone Casino. He was loved by all and will be missed. Interment will take place at Cedar Park Cemetery in Westwood, New Jersey. Donations may be made in Leo’s name to the Daughters of Sarah Senior Community , 180 Washington Avenue Extension , Albany, NY 12203 or the Senior Chorus of the Sidney Albert Albany Jewish Community Center , 340 Whitehall Road, Albany, NY 12208.
