Obituary of Susan Ruth Davis
Susan Ruth Davis (Rose) of Our Lady of Mercy Life Center in Guilderland, NY passed away on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at Our Lady of Mercy with her family at her side. Born in Borna, Germany, Susan was the sole survivor of the Rose family. Her parents, Carl and Berta Rose as well as her three brothers, Norbert, Manfred and Heinz Erich Rose perished in the Holocaust. Mrs. Davis had been employed as a saleslady for Flah's in the Capital District area for more than 30 years retiring in 1992. She was a member of Temple Israel in Albany and enjoyed spending time at the Albany Jewish Community Center where she participated in activities with the Senior Adult Group.. In Susan's earlier years she enjoyed taking long walks and had a passion for playing bingo and dominos and enjoyed eating chocolate that her family would bring her.
Susan was predeceased by her husband, Jack Davis. She is survived by her loving son, Robert Davis and his wife Alexandra of Clifton Park, NY and her loving daughter, Heidi Bernhardt of Loudonville, NY. Cherished grandmother of Catherine Davis, Jase and Ryah Bernhardt.
Graveside services will be held at the Temple Israel Cemetery located in the 1600 Block of Western Avenue in Guilderland, NY on Friday, May 18, 2012 at 12 noon. Those wishing to remember Susan in a special way may make a memorial contribution to the United States Holocaust Museum, 100 Raoul Wallenberg Place S.W., Washington, DC, 20024 or a charity of your choice.
