Elaine Fromer

Obituary of Elaine Spevak Fromer

Elaine Sherry Spevak Fromer, 67, passed away peacefully on August 27 th, 2015. She was a beloved wife of 42 years, an adored mother, a treasured sister, and a cherished friend to so many. Elaine was a perpetual and contagious optimist who loved to live. She was creative – a painter, a sculptor, a poet, and a graphic designer – and she was kind. She loved the excitement of traveling with her family to new places far away, and she equally loved picnicking on a blanket on the Tanglewood lawn, listening to music on a breezy summer day. She was as devoted a wife and mother as they come. She saw her most important role as a mom as giving her children a strong and sturdy moral compass, so that they would go through life as she did, and treat others, no matter who they were, with dignity. Her most important role as a wife was limitless devotion and support, and she carried out that role with perfection. Elaine will be sorely and painfully missed, and she left this world far too soon. But she had a strict rule, and in her honor, it continues to apply: No “Debbie Downers.” Whatever challenges Elaine faced in life, she was positive, strong, and always held her head high, right to the very end. Funeral services for Elaine will be held on Friday, August 28th, at 2:00pm, at Congregation Ohav Shalom, 113 New Krumkill Road in Albany.
