Obituary of Jeanette A. Boyer
Jeanette Boyer, 101, died on Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at her residence at Beverwyck in Slingerlands.
Born in New York City on Feb. 27, 1914, and raised in Utica, Jeanne was the daughter of
Philip and Augusta Perlman. She was predeceased by her husband, David Boyer, in 1956 and
later by brothers David, Samuel, and Harold Perlman, and sister, Frances Philipson.
Jeanne is survived by her three children: Shirley McLauchlin (Laguna Woods, CA), Leslie
Boyer (Albany), and Dennis Boyer and wife, Merle Sandler (Newton, MA); four grandchildren:
Margot Boyer-Dry (Brooklyn, NY), and Jonathan Boyer-Dry (Los Angeles, CA), Laura McLauchlin (Los Angeles, CA), Douglas McLauchlin (Guyra, NSW, Australia), and their spouses; great-grandchildren Kaige and Cyan McLauchlin (Australia); and by her cousins, nieces and nephews.
On becoming widowed at age 42, Jeanne managed her deceased husband’s business,
Federal Auto Supply, then sold it, and worked for the NYS Office of the Attorney General until
retirement. She loved the law and legal research.
She was a member of Congregation Beth Emeth and served as an officer on the Board of its
Sisterhood for many years. She was a member of Hadassah, the Jewish Community Center,
and the Monday Musical Club Choir. She also served as an Assistant Leader for Brownie and
Girl Scout troops at Albany’s School 16.
Jeanne enjoyed travel, her dogs, and participating in sports of all kinds. A crossword enthusiast, she enjoyed learning and was always enrolled in classes during her working years and in retirement. Jeanne loved music and enjoyed attending the live Metropolitan Opera broadcasts at the movie theater, even in her last years.
Jeanne had a strong sense of social justice, and was described by all as gracious. She will be greatly missed by her loving family and by all who knew her.
The family would like to thank Suzanne Shelto, and the remarkable staff at both the Terrace and Eddy Village Green at Beverwyck for their loving care and friendship.
