Obituary of Lyuba Urman
Lyuba Urman, of Albany NY, passed away peacefully at age 99 on Sunday July 26, 2015, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Minsk, Belarus on March 2, 1916, the youngest of seven, she graduated from the Belarussian Polytechnic Institute with honors as a Chemical Engineer in 1939. During World War II she worked at a military factory in Russia where she received several honors for her contributions. After the war she returned to her native Minsk and worked in a chemical laboratory. She was a devoted wife to her husband, Gendel Broutman, and a caring mother to Mark Broutman and Sofia Ginzburg. In 1990 she immigrated to Albany, NY where she spent the remainder of her life. She was most passionate about literature, music, geography, travel, and worldwide politics. She was eternally grateful to the United States for giving her and her family the opportunity to live an independent life. She is survived by her two children, three grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.
Services at the Beth Emeth Cemetery, Turner Lane Loudonville, NY on Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at 12 noon.
