Obituary of Lily Greenspan
On Monday, June 29th 2015, Lily Greenspan of Albany NY passed away peacefully. She had extensive family presence and constant love as she slipped into her final rest.
She was born in Kleine Rockavitz, near Karopitz, Czechoslovakia, officially on August 18, 1922. After her liberation from the Auschwitz concentration camps in 1945, she emigrated to the U.S. in 1948 and settled down in the East side of Manhattan. She later moved to Elmhurst, Queens and then Jackson Heights, Queens, before coming up to live in Albany.in 1998.
She was the wife of the late Harry (Hershie) Halpert and the late Irving Greenspan. Lily was the loving mother od Leon (Marsha) Halpert and Sylvia (Mark) Lieberman; devoted grandmother of David (Andrea) Lieberman, Aviv (Jessica) Halpert, Adina Halpert, Johnathan Lieberman and Aliza (Daniel) Scher; and her great- grandchildren, Jessica, Zachary, Julia Sean, Ellie, Evan and Penni.
Funeral services will be held in the chapel at the Daughters of Sarah Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, on Wednesday July 1st at 11:00. Interment will occur after the service at the Temple Israel cemetery on Western Avenue. Family and friends are invited to return to the chapelat Daughters of Sarah for the first meal.
The mourning period will begin Wed. evening with an 8 PM minyan at the home of Leon and Marsha Halpert, 13 Cardinal Avenue. Morning minyans will be held at the Halpert residence Thursday, Friday, Monday and Tuesday at 8 AM Sunday morning minyan will be at 9:30 AM. Evening minyans will be held on Thursday, Sunday and Monday at 8 PM. Shiva visiting hours will be Thursday, Friday, Sunday and Monday at 9- 11 Am and 6-8 PM.
