Rose Goldberg

Obituary of Rose Goldberg

Rose Palsky Goldberg, born on February 16, 1917, passed away on Thursday afternoon, June 11, 2015 at Daughters of Sarah Nursing Center. A beloved wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great grandmother, and aunt, she was 98 years old and an inspiration to all who knew her. Born in Philadelphia, Rose was the daughter of the late Sarah and Harry Palsky. She was married in 1941 to the late Frank Milton Goldberg, who predeceased her in 1981. Rose was Grandma Rose to so many, even those outside of her immediate family. Her joy in life was spending time with those she loved, and she took great pride in her volunteer efforts throughout her life. When her children were young, she was an active Brownie and cub scout leader, and volunteered much of her time with the Jewish Children’s Association in Philadelphia. These activities continued after her move to Delmar in 1981, when she became a librarian helper at the Elsmere School and a Surrogate Grandma in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Albany Med. Rose was a member of Congregation Beth Emeth and its Sisterhood. She is survived by her daughter Sherry Einhorn (Steven), her son Don Goldberg (Gail Resnik); her granddaughter Maya; and her four grandsons Lee (Victoria), Rick (Grace), Marc (Cecilia) and Brad (Mary). Rose’s greatest joy was welcoming her beloved great grandchildren Amelia, Lillian, Gaby, Eloise, Michael, Nicky and Sam. She was very much looking forward to the arrival of two new “greats” next month. The family would like to thank the loving nurses and aides at Daughters of Sarah for their kind and loving care of Rose during her stay at the Nursing Center. There will be a service to celebrate Rose’s life at Congregation Beth Emeth, 100 Academy Road, on Monday, June 15, at 11:00 a.m. Immediately following the interment at Beth Emeth Cemetery in Loudonville, the family will be receiving friends at Sherry and Steven Einhorn’s home at One Morningside Drive in Delmar. Those wishing to remember Rose in a special way may make a memorial contribution to the Einhorn Center for Jewish Education at Congregation Beth Emeth, 100 Academy Road, Albany, NY 12208 or a charity of your choice
