Obituary of Martin Goldstein

Martin A. Goldstein, age 88, of Delray Beach, Florida, formerly of Albany, NY passed away on Wednesday, April, 22, 2015. Marty was born in Lawrence, MA but spent most of his life in Albany, NY. He was a graduate of Albany High School. Marty was a World War II Navy Veteran and served as a medic in psychiatric hospitals. After an honorable discharge, he attended Siena College before becoming an electrologist, a profession he embraced with pride, bringing a new level of professionalism to a new field. Marty was actively engaged in the Jewish communities in both Albany and Delray Beach. He was a long time member of Congregation Beth Emeth in Albany and Temple Sinai in Delray Beach. He was past president of Congregation Beth Emeth’s Brotherhood and an active member of the Knights of Pythias. Marty was pre-deceased by his first wife Luisa (Bike) to whom his was married for 30 years. He is survived by his second wife Cecil (Markowitz), to whom he was married for 34 years, sister Barbara (Norman) Cohen of Gloversville, NY, daughter Tobi (Laurence) Keefe of Victor, NY, sons Glenn (Susan) Goldstein of Manhattan Beach, CA and Bruce (Sharon) Goldstein of Stamford, CT. He is also survived by step-daughter Jan (Andrew) Estrine of Boca Raton, FL, as well as seven grandchildren: Lewis and Daniel Goldstein, Lauren and Michelle Goldstein, David, Ben, and Lida Estrine. Services are at the Levine Memorial Chapel, 649 Washington Avenue, Albany, on Sunday, April 26, 2015, at 12:30 p.m. Interment will follow in the Beth Emeth Cemetery in Loudonvillle, NY. Shiva will be observed at 32 Aspen Circle, Albany, NY on Sunday following the service of interment and from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. on Monday, April 27, 2015.
