Obituary of Joan Sandra Coplan

Joan Coplan, 83, of Delray Beach, Florida died March 12, 2015. Born Joan Palatsky in Watervliet, NY, her family ran the Broadway Bazaar dry goods store. Joan was a graduate of Watervliet High School and attended Saint Rose. She was a long time resident of Troy where she raised her family and worked for the state of NY for 38 years in the Labor Department. She was active in the Ilium Players of Troy theater group and enjoyed singing. She was also an active member of Temple Beth El in Troy and served as Sisterhood President. She enjoyed helping others and was a dedicated volunteer. While living in Florida, she served tirelessly as Dispatcher for the We Care Program and board member of the Singles Group for many years at Huntington Pointe. She also found much joy in her Volunteer position at Bethesda Hospital. Predeceased by her husband Perry Coplan and her daughter Leslie Coplan. Survived by her son Mark from Atlanta, GA, her brother Marvin Palatsky of Averill Park, Her granddog Coal, and several nieces and nephews.
