SOL KOVEN
1914-2012
Sol Koven, age 97, of the Massry Residence on Washington Avenue Extension in Albany died on Sunday morning, April 29. 2012, at the Daughters of Sarah Nursing Center. Sol was born in Rochester, NY and had been a Capital District resident most of his life. He was a World War II Army veteran. He had been Vice President and General Manager of the former Lewis Equipment Company, in Albany which later became Horton - Lewis Equipment Company. Sol was a mason and had been of member of Washington # 85 F&AM. He was a member of Temple Israel and the Albany Jewish War Veterans # 105.
Mr. Koven was married to Mildred Koven until her passing in the year 2000.
He is surivived by 2 sons, Ronald A. Koven and his wife Lois of Southboro, Massachusetts and Dr. Norman L. Koven and his wife Linda of Huntingdon Valley, Pa. He also leaves a brother, Jack A. Koven of Toronto, Ontario Canada He is the grandfather of Jeffrey ( Jennifer) Koven, Julie ( Michael Levine), Jeremy and Myles Koven.A niece and several nephews also survive. Sol was predeceased by a brother, Max Koven and 2 sisters, Mary and Fannie Koven as well as a dear friend, Eleanor Koblenz.
Services at the Daughters of Sarah Nursing Center, 180 Washington Avenue Extension, Albany on Tuesday May 1, 2012 at 11:00am. Those wishing to remember Sol in a special way may make a memorial contribution to Temple Israel, 600 New Scotland Avenue Albany, NY 12208, The Massry Residence, 182 Washington Avenue Extension Albany, NY 12203 or Hadassah. Interment will follow services in the Temple Israel Cemetery in Guilderland, NY.
