Mr. Wicks was my absolute favorite music teacher, he taught me at Berkshire around 1990. He condensed theory lessons in a way that made it possible for me to comprehend and be enthusiastic about learning them, and no one ever came close. I think about him often to this day. Very sorry to learn of his passing. Strongest condolences to all his family

Mike was, and is, a wonderful soul. When I first moved to the area in 1995 he was especially kind to me, making me a member of his band. I will never forget those years and his wonderful arrangements and our nights of music. When I visited his home, he and Harriet were warm and hospitable. My thoughts and gratitude stretch for a lifetime.

A great teacher, educator, musician and local jazz great. Gone but never forgotten. Thank you for being apart of my life. You taught me much more than the craft and art of bass playing.

Mr. Wicks was a musical force in the Capital District. I studied with him for only a brief time in the early 1990s, but he left a deep impression. Please be strong.

Always interesting to talk with, and full of such wonderful knowledge!! The world is a richer place because of the music he made here. I knew Mike while I was executive director of the Glens Falls Symphony and then after that when he played Klezmer at Temple Beth El in Glens Falls. He was always true to his music and his fellow musicians. A mench of the first order.
