Obituary of Irma Lavin
Irma Lavin, 93, went home to be with our Lord on Thursday, November 13, 2014, at the Teresian House, in Albany. Irma was born in 1920 in New Brunswick, N.J. In her early years, she enjoyed modeling for various clothing lines after being introduced to designer Irene Dunne in New York City. Irma was active throughout her children's schooling and also politically in Schenectady. She was a delegate at the 1972 Democratic National Convention in Miami. She was employed by the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance for 13 years. Irma is survived by her children, Patricia Lavin Whiting (Robert), Sharon DelVecchio, Deborah Lavin, Michael Lavin (Shelly), JoAnne Lavin and two grandsons, Christopher and Eric Lavin. Also several nieces and nephews. There will be no calling hours. She has donated her body to Cornell Medical Center, New York City.
A memorial Mass will be held at the Teresian House on Friday, November 28, 2014, at 10 a.m. A celebration of life service will be held at a later date. In honor of Irma, a lover of all animals, donations may be made to a small, nonprofit shelter or animal rescue of one's choice, or to the Teresian House. -
