Obituary of Rose Calderon

Rose Calderon, age 101 of the Daughters of Sarah Nursing Center in Albany died peacefully on Friday morning, October 10, 2014 at the nursing home. Born in the Bronx, Rose graduated from the New Bedford, Massachusetts High School. She grew up during the depression and resided in NYC with her aunt and uncle. She started her career selling Shirley Temple Dolls and was employed as a waitress for many years in NYC. She will be remembered as a wonderful person, tenacious , organized , and a good leader . She organized many bus trips, enjoyed shows and traveled extensively. Rose also loved to dance and did so until she was in her 80’s. Rose is survived by her son, Martin Calderon and his wife Doris F. Calderon of Halfmoon, NY and a daughter, Lenore Sperling and her husband Allan of West Palm Beach, Florida. Sister of Sidney Miller of Boca Raton, Florida. Grandmother of Matthew and Neal Sperling , Elyssa Pucz , Lisa Haun, Kevin and Sarah Calderon. She also leaves 10 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a brother, Herman Miller. Services will be held in the chapel at the Daughters of Sarah Nursing Center, 180 Washington Avenue Extension in Albany on Sunday, October 12, 2014 at 11:00am. Interment will follow in the Workmen’s Circle Cemetery in Guilderland, NY.
