Obituary of Hortense F. O' Hara

Hortense F O'Hara, "Hortie" to friends, passed peacefully on September 26th at Beth Shalom Village in Virginia Beach VA. Born on Dec. 9th 1920 she lived for 92 yrs. on Long Island NY. Most recently she was a resident of Greenwood Village. Our Mom worked at many jobs through the years but enjoyed most the one she came out of reirement for in her 80's. Hortie taught Mah Jongg to Seniors for the Brookhaven Parks and Recreation Department. She was also a Charter Member of the Manorville Republican Club serving as President and Treasurer. She received The Suffolk County Certificate of Recognition for her many years of service in this club. Hortie is survived by her daughter Sandra (Sandy) Cutter and Michael (Mike) Cutter. She also leaves behind 3 grandchildren, Lisa Inge Stewart (John Stewart), Kimberly A Marnien (John Marnien) and John Thomas Cutter. She was also blessed by 6 great grandchildren Mark W Inge, Katherine D Inge, and Melissa M Inge, Kaitlyn A Marnien, Joshua J Marnien and Nathan J Marnien as well as stepgrandchildren Matt and Ashly Stewart. Services at the Beth Emeth Cemetery, Turner Lane, Loudonville, NY on Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at 11:00am In lieu of flowers Donations may be sent to Daughters of Sarah Jewish Foundation, 180 Washington Ave. Ext. Albany NY 12203, the US Holocaust Memorial Museum, 100 Raoul Wallenburg Place SW, Washington DC, or a charity of your choice.
