Obituary of Hilda Levy Rothschild
Hilda Levy Rothschild of Albany, NY died on Sunday, September 7, 2014 at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany.
Hilda was originally from Utica, NY. She was the daughter of Abraham and Edith Levy. Hilda graduated with honors from Utica Free Academy and Utica College of Syracuse University. While in college, Hilda was a founder and active member of ISFA Zionist Organization. Hilda graduated with a degree in Social Work.
Following her college graduation, Hilda went to Israel to work with Jewish refugees from Iraq and Yemen. While in Israel, Hilda met her beloved husband Moritz. Eventually they returned to Utica, NY and later moved to Albany, NY.
Hilda worked as a Hebrew teacher at Temple Beth-El of Utica, Temple Israel, Congregation Sons of Abraham and the Hebrew Academy of Albany.
Hilda was a supervisor of child welfare in Oneida County, and later retired from the Albany County Department of Social Services.
Hilda was a life member of Hadassah, and served on the board of the Albany Jewish Federation.
Hilda was the beloved wife of Moritz, sister of Marilyn Klass of Rochester, mother of Robin and David (Jennifer), and grandmother of Avital Miriam.
Services were held at the Levine Memorial Chapel in Albany, NY on Monday, September 8th with interment in the Ohav Shalom Cemetery in Guilderland, NY
The family gives special appreciation to St. Peter's Hospital CC Unit for the superb care afforded to Hilda during her last days.
Contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to Friends of the IDF, Chabad, B'nai Akvia, Zionist Organization of America and Congregation Ohav Shalom.
