Obituary of Shirley Auerbach
Shirley Hyman Auerbach, age 88 of the Beverwyck Community in Slingerlands, NY died on Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at the Hospice Inn at St. Peters Hospital in Albany. Mrs. Auerbach was born in Albany and was a lifelong resident. She was a graduate of Albany High School and State Teachers College. She received her Master’s degree in English education from SUNY. Shirley taught Junior High English at the Colonie Central School District for many years. She was later employed by the Center for Disability Services. Following her teaching career Shirley was employed as a bereavement counselor for Community Hospice. She was a member of Congregation Beth Emeth and its sisterhood.
Shirley was married to Murray Auerbach until his passing. She was the loving Mother of Richard Auerbach of Kingston, NY and Pamela Auerbach of NYC, Sister of Florence Katz of Slingerlands, NY. She was predeceased by 2 sisters, Yvette Benson and Evelyn Pearson.
Services at the Mendleson Chapel, located on the grounds of the Beth Emeth Cemetery on Turner Lane in Loudonville, NY on Sunday, August 17, 2014 at 11:00am. Interment will follow.
