Dear Meryl: My deepest condolences on the passing of your Mom. I couldn't wait to leave newborn screaming three years ago so your Mom and I could be friends--and she was a dear one. She, Debbie, and I shared many a lunch and laugh on 29. As a colleague, your Mom was feisty, fierce, a patient and thoughtful teacher, fun, and reliable beyond compare. Your Mom was a great storyteller and I enjoyed her many tales of Sherlock's adventures. Your Mom's love and respect for you were evident in her smile and warm words as she spoke of you. She had such pride in your accomplishments and in you as a person, yet she was modest about her own role in your achievements. As dedicated as your Mom was to her profession and to the important work she did for DOH, it was clear to me that family--you and your husband, your aunt and uncle, your late nephew, and of course, her beloved Sherlock, was the number one priority in her life. Your mom, my friend Cynthia, leaves the gift of everlasting love and friendship in her passing. With sincere sympathy for your loss.

Today I said my final good-bye to my co-worker of the past 9 yrs, my office mom, but mostly my dear friens. The office is quite without you there, I know your response to that would be f...y..(which I've heard before). I already miss our moring catch up talks, even our little squabbles which were forgotten shortly later, and especially our 3:30 walk out of there together to the garage where one of us would say to the other (you usually beat me to it)"good night, have a good one,see ya tomorrow" and I usually responded by saying "you to, see ya". Hopefully soon I will be able to tell a story or share a memory without the tears flowing, but until then I'll just let them flow. You know you were right when you always said I would miss you when your gone & I do. I promise I will keep in touch with Meryl & Sherlock. He has his sister caring for him now & I know he misses his mom as much as we do & his friends on Chaucer Pl. He is also going through a life changing adjustment as well, new house, new buddies, new schedule. I'm sure his sister will bring him back often to see his friends, he will need that. RIP my friend, you were one of a kind. Love you always & forever miss ya.

I have not known Cynthia for a long time but in the time I have she became a very pleasant part of my day. She made coming to work a pleasure, especially on Mondays. "Happy Monday" is how she would greet me. A Legacy I plan to carry on. To her family you have my deepest Sympathy and my Condolence..Sincerely Nadine Kimbrough- Rayben Enterprise

Meryl and family,
This came as a shock to me a I read our NYS Dept. of Health posting. I used to work with Cynthia at a Travel Agency quite a few years ago. We kept in touch after we both left the Agency and went to breakfast together. The last time I saw her was at our department's picnic (6/10/11). She looked just like I remembered her, smiling. I will miss her. I will keep her and all of you in my prayers.

Dear Meryl, your Mother Cynthia is one in a million. We met through the local chapter of IAAP. Through the years she has guided me and laughed with me as a friend and mentor. Cynthia always spoke with passion (and great humor) whether it was about family, work or even American Idol. We have lost a great friend whose laughter and great sense of humor will be greatly missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with you, Tracey

My dear friend, Cynthia. The loss is too soon and too deeply felt. To Meryl, and Gail, and all your family, I am so, so sorry. Ironically, it is to Cynthia I would turn right now to tell me what was the proper and appropriate thing to do. She would explain what would happen and how things would be handled. She has become more and more important in my life as the years have gone by. We would talk almost every morning...how will I start my day without that call? I will miss her every day, as I know you will. My sincerest, deepest condolences to all of you.

Meryl, I had the pleasure of working with your mom at UKW. You were just a kid then. I spoke with her not too long ago. I know how proud she was of you and how well your life turned out. I hope you inherited her sense of humor and relaxed manner. Hang in there. My best to you and your family.
