Obituary of Arliene Boochever
AlbanyArliene Riber Boochever, 84, died on Wednesday, August 24, 2011.
Born July 6, 1927 in Kingston, New York, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Sarah Riber. She was a graduate of Kingston High school, Class of 1944. A graduate of the New York State Teachers College in 1948, she received both a Bachelors and a Masters Degree. Following graduation, she taught at Ithaca High School and Roessleville High School (now South Colonie). After raising her children, she returned to teaching, providing literacy instruction to adults at the Albany Adult Learning Center, taking great pride in this work.
Arliene was an avid reader and actively pursued her interests in literature, theatre, ballet, movies and music. She was patron of the arts and had a passion for news and political affairs. She was a board member of the SUNY Albany Foundation, the Capital District Center for the Arts in Education and the Albany Jewish Family Services. She enjoyed summers at her second home in Lake George and, in recent years, winters in Palm Desert, California.
Over the years, Arliene battled several serious medical conditions with courage, grace and perseverance. She is survived by Joseph, her husband of 61 years, her sister Rhoda Mones, her daughter Susan Feldman and her husband Arthur and her son Stephen Boochever and his wife Patricia. Arliene was a devoted grandmother to Emily and Elizabeth Feldman and Samuel and Rachel Boochever.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to remember Arliene may make contributions to the Wildwood School or a charity of their choice.
Services will be held at Congregation Beth Emeth, 100 Academy Road, Albany, New York on Friday, August 26 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to remember Arliene may make contributions to the Wildwood School or a charity of their choice.
