Obituary of Lillian M. Cohen

Lillian M. Cohen, age 97 of the Daughters of Sarah Nursing Center in Albany died Saturday, August 20, 2011 at the nursing center. Born in NYC, Mrs. Cohen resided in Schenectady most of her life. She was a member of Congregation Agudat Achim in Schenectady for more than 70 years and was also an active member of their sisterhood. Lillian was a life member of Hadassah and was active with the outreach program for breast cancer survivors at Ellis Hospital. Lillian was married to Joseph Cohen until his passing in 1979.. Loving mother of Bonnie Zuravicky and her husband Dr. Igal Zuravicky, and Elissa Freedman and her husband Michael Freedman of Niskayuna, NY. Grandmother of Dr. Joshua LaBaer of Chandler, Arizona, Tamara LaBaer of Oakland, California, David Freedman and his wife Colleen of Clifton Park, NY, Joel Freedman an d his wife Sara of Portland, Oregon, Dori Bomback and her husband, David of Weston, Ct, Shari Zuravicky, Orli Zuravicky and Darya Zuravicky all of NYC. She also leaves 8 great grandchildren. Lillian was predeceased by her daughter, Veda LaBaer and a sister Ann Wallach who resided in the Capital District. Funeral services were held on Sunday, August 21, 2011 at the Agudat Achim Cemetery in Rotterdam, NY. There will be a minyan service at Congregation Agudat Achim, 2117 Union Street in Schenectady, Monday through Friday at 5:45 pm with the family receiving at that time. Those wishing to remember Lillian in a special way may make a memorial contribution to the Joseph Cohen Memorial Fund at Congregation Agudat Achim in Schenectady.
