Obituary of Virginia Dolins
VIRGINIA CROMWELL DOLINS
Virginia Cromwell Dolins, age 63 of Niskayuna, NY died suddenly on Sunday July 24, 2011 at her residence. Virginia was born in Great Bend, Kansas and was a graduate of Hoisington High School and Grace Hospital School of Nursing where she received her R.N. diploma. Virginia joined the United States Air Force in February of 1969 and earned the rank of 2nd Lieutenant, USAF Nursing Corps. She was stationed at Offutt Air Force Base. She served active duty until February of 1970 and was later employed at Creighton St. Josephs Hospital for Union Pacific Railroad. After discharge f rom the military she and her husband Richard, moved to East Greenbush, NY.Later, Virginia received her Bachelor's degree from the University at Albany and her Master's Degree from Sage Graduate School. While residing in the Capital District, Virginia had been employed by several hospitals and served as a school nurse at the Hebrew Academy and the Guilderland Public School District. In 1986, Virginia started her employment with NYS Health Dept until her retirement on June 22, 2011. She was a longtime member of Congregation Gates of Heaven and the Capital District Civil War Roundtable.
Virginia is survived by her husband, Richard Dolins, and 2 children, Laura Dolins of East Greenbush, NY and Matthew A. Dolins and his wife Rachel Cohen Dolins of Rancho, Cucamonga, California. She is also survived by 2 sisters, Jean Pettibone (Richard) of Kanorado , Kansas, Dixie Roth of Fort. Worth, Texas and a brother, Larry Cromwell of Burlington, Colorado. Virginia is also survived by nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Myrl and Lucy Miller Cromwell and a sister, Judy Cromwell.
Services will be held in the social hall at Congregation Gates of Heaven, 852 Ashmore Avenue Schenectady, NY on Sunday July 31st 2011 at 1:00pm. Interment will follow in the Gates of Heaven Cemetery, Schenectady, NY Those wishing to remember Virginia in a special way may make a memorial contribution to Congregation Gates of Heaven or Civil War Trust, 1156 Fifteenth Street, NW Suite 900, Washington, DC, 20005. The period of mourning will be observed at the Dolins residence following the service of interment, throughout the day on Sunday as well as on Sunday evening.
