Obituary of Helen Balmuth
HELEN S. BALMUTH
1915-2011
Helen S. Balmuth of Ballston Spa, NY at age 96 passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 24, 2011. She was born on February 27, 1915 in LeRoy, NY to Harry and Jennie Spiller. Married to Saul Balmuth in Rochester, NY on April 14, 1940.
Helen graduated LeRoy High School and Buffalo State Teacher's College and was employed as a Home Economics Teacher for the Ballson Spa Central Schools for many years.
A Guardian member of Congregation Gates of Heaven and a lifetime member of Hadassah and a former member of many social and fraternal organizations such as Order of Eastern Star, Brookside Museum , National Bottle Museum , BSB&P Assoc. and Congregation Gates of Heaven Sisterhood to name a few.
She was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Judge Saul Balmuth and brothers' Samuel Spiller , Dr. Henry Spiller, Joseph Spiller and sisters, Ann Richwun, and Edith Spiller.
She is survived by brother, Mortimer Spiller , sons Glenn R. Balmuth ( Gayle) of Glenville, NY , Bruce M. Balmuth ( Barbara) of Mission Viejo CA, and Edward S.Balmuth ( Malea) of Granbury, TX and 6 grandchilren and 2 great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday July 26, 2011 at Congregation Gates of Heaven Cemetery, Watt
St. , Schenectady, NY at 11:00am. The family will receive friends at 47 Pleasant Street in Ballston Spa, NY on Tuesday evening from 7-9pm
