Obituary of Lily Shabot

LILY FRANCO SHABOT Lily Shabot (nee Franco), died at the age of 83 on July 1, 2011 in Aventura, FL. Born on March 14, 1928 in Brooklyn, NY to Morris and Mollie Franco, Lily was predeceased by Murray D. Shabot, her husband of 63 years. She was also predeceased by a brother Louis Franco and sisters Claudia Betesh and Rachel Kassin. She is survived by her brother Charles Franco, sister Esther Massry, children Merril and Norman Leferman of Southborough, MA, David and Michelle Shabot of Ambler, PA, and Robert Shabot of Kamuela, HI. She is also survived by grandchildren Michael and Jennifer Buchhalter, Mollie and Jon Becker, Cari Shabot, Michael Shabot, great grandchildren Harrison and Marley Buchhalter and numerous nieces and nephews. Lily graduated from Lafayette High School in Brooklyn, NY. A 57 year resident of Troy, NY, Lily was co-owner of retail stores in Troy and was active in Hadassah, the Lupus Foundation and Temple Beth El (Troy). A graveside ceremony will be held on Sunday, July 3 at 12:30 PM at Temple Beth El Cemetery, Belle Avenue, Troy NY. Following the ceremony, the family will observe Shiva on Sunday and all day Monday at the home of Esther and Murray Massry in Loudonville, NY and on Tuesday at the respective homes of Merril & Norm Leferman (Southborough, MA) and David & Michelle Shabot (Ambler, PA).
