MARVIN FREEDMAN
1931-2011
Marvin Freedman, age 80 of Albany, NY died on Friday, May 20, 2011 at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany. Born in Albany, Marvin was a lifelong resident. He was the son of the late Max and Anna Freedman. He was a graduate of PS # 23 in Albany, and also a graduate of the "Old" Albany High School. Marvin then continued his education and graduated from the Russell Sage College evening division. He had been employed as an accountant for the NYS Dept. of Taxation and Finance retiring in 1994. He was a member of Congregation Beth Emeth and the Independent Benevolent Society...Marvin's three life treasures were the joy of his family, Siena Basketball and the many books that he read.
Marvin is survived by his devoted wife of 50 years, Cynthia Frommer Freedman. He leaves his cherished children, Robyn Marinstein and her husband Edward of Slingerlands, NY and Wendy Benoit and her husband Jeffrey of Palm City, Florida and his cherished grandchildren, Molly and Emily Benoit and David and Jessica Marinstein. Brother of Irving Freedman and his wife Jackie of Loudonville, NY. Many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Sidney and Chuck Freedman as well as his 2 sister in laws, Shirley and Marilyn Freedman.
Services at Congregation Beth Emeth, 100 Academy Road in Albany on Sunday, May 22, 2011 at 1:00pm. Interment will follow in the Beth Emeth Cemetery in Loudonville, NY.Those wishing to remember Marvin in a special way may make a memorial contribution to Community Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital, 315 South Manning Blvd. Albany, NY 12208 or Congregation Beth Emeth. The period of mourning will be observed at the Marinstein residence on Sunday following the service of interment and on Monday and Tuesday evenings from 7-9pm.
Marvin's family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the staff of New York Oncology and Hematology, Albany Memorial Hospital, Heart Program and Transfusion Dept. as well as the Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital.
