Obituary of Joseph Francis Pitoniak

JOSEPH F. PITONIAK 1935- 2011 Joseph F. Pitoniak, 76, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on Monday, April 25, 2011. Born April 2, 1935 in Jessup, Pa, Joe was the son of the late Joseph Pitoniak and Anna (Gavenda) Pitoniak. He attended Scranton Preparatory High School and graduated college from the University of Scranton. Following graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He worked for Prudential Insurance Company for years and took an early retirement from Bristol Myers Squibb to build a home with his wife in St. James Plantation, North Carolina. Joe enjoyed spending time with his family, playing golf, cooking, going to New York Giants games and tailgating with his son-in-law, Rick. He is survived by his devoted wife Patricia, his children, Kelly (Rick) Alfred and Kristine O'Brien; grandchildren Molly, Makayla, Josh, Craig and Brad. Brother Tom Pitoniak; sister-in-law Ann Marie Pitoniak; nieces Susan Harrison and Deborah Noll, nephews Thomas and Douglas Pitoniak and several great nieces and nephews. Funeral services and interment will be private Friends and relatives are respectfully invited to call at the Alfred Residence from 5pm-8pm, Thursday, April 28th .The family would like to offer a special thank you for the grace and compassionate care extended to Joe and his family by Gloria, Lisa, Nancy, Sharon, Brenda, Stacy and his physician, Michael Kolodziej, M.D. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The American Cancer Society or Community Hospice.
